My house has been cable-free for over three years. For the most-part we have not missed the service at all… For the most-part.
Some of the perks that came with cable TV are not as easy to replicate. Although I was able to create an over-the-air DVR, it is not 100% reliable. If there is bad weather or time schedules are moved due to sporting events going long we may miss recording a show that was programed to record.
As mentioned above, weather can also be an issue when trying to watch OTA television. Rain, wind, snow and other wind events will cause the broadcast to pixelate. This can be quite frustrating when watching a live sporting event. Pixelation can get to the point where it is impossible to watch anything.
