Celtics and 76ers: A Playoff Series of Highs, Lows, and Three-Point Woes

An in-depth analysis of the Celtics’ and 76ers’ playoff series, focusing on key performances, shooting struggles, and strategic adjustments.

The NBA playoffs are a time for heroes to rise and legends to be made. On April 21, 2026, the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers delivered a game that will be remembered for its twists, turns, and three-point burns. The 76ers, led by rookie sensation V.J. Edgecombe, tied the series at 1-1 with a 111-97 victory over the Celtics. Edgecombe’s 30 points and 10 rebounds were historic, making him the youngest player in NBA history to achieve such a feat in a playoff game. Tyrese Maxey added 29 points and nine assists, showcasing the 76ers’ offensive prowess. For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 36 points, while Jayson Tatum contributed 19 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. However, the Celtics’ three-point shooting was abysmal, making only 13 of 50 attempts (26%), compared to the 76ers’ 19 of 39 (48.7%). As the series shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3, both teams will need to adjust their strategies to gain the upper hand.
