Evan Gold Joins Islanders as AHL General Manager
In a significant move within the NHL, Evan Gold has been appointed as the New York Islanders’ assistant general manager and general manager of their AHL affiliate in Hamilton. Gold brings over a decade of experience from the Boston Bruins organization, where he served as assistant general manager and general manager of the AHL Providence Bruins. Under his leadership, Providence made three consecutive playoff appearances and secured the top record in the AHL during the 2025-26 season. This appointment is part of a broader revamp of the Islanders’ AHL operations, with the Hamilton team, formerly in Bridgeport, coming off its first postseason appearance since the 2021-22 season. Jay McKee is set to lead the team as head coach in his first year. Islanders GM Mathieu Darche praised Gold’s extensive experience and success across NHL and AHL levels, stating, “Evan brings a rare combination of experience, intelligence, and results to our Hockey Operations department.”
